At first, I was going to call this post “Top 5 Missed Opportunities for More Conversions Online” and I was going to write it based on my experience helping business owners with their SEO

But I’m a positive person so I decided to go ahead and flip the script. Instead of mistakes, I want to focus on solutions. So, now I bring you…drum roll, please…

5 things you can do right now to get more leads and conversions online!

These are the 5 things I see business owners sleeping on the most…even though they’re really easy to implement and they’re awesome for bringing in new leads.

Create a Landing Page for Each Keyword

It feels like landing pages are really having a moment, doesn’t it? Well, I loved them before they were cool, so there.

There are two things that make landing pages a great tool for conversion…1. They don’t have navigation that could distract users away from your page, and 2. They’re only about one thing. If you’re trying to sell an offer, your landing page is only about that offer. Not your team, not your back story, none of that other stuff. There’s literally nothing else for them to do on your page but buy or leave.

P.S. A great content writer can mean the difference between views and sales when it comes to your landing page copy…just sayin’.

Do Your Keyword Research

But Josh, does keyword research still matter in 2020? Great question! Google keeps getting smarter and is understanding searches better than ever before. But keywords are not dead! We just have to get smarter about how we do keyword research. Spoiler alert: It all goes back to the customer and the type of information they are looking for.

Make Negative Keywords Work For You

While we’re on the subject of keywords…let’s talk negative keywords. Negative keywords let you exclude specific terms from your campaigns and focus only on the keywords that really matter to your customers. For example, let’s say you own a cake store. You can use negative keywords to make sure you don’t show up for searches about cake recipes or cake baking tips

Yes, you may reach fewer people this way. But you’re more likely to reach the right people!

Always Be Adjusting (with Google Analytics)

Google Analytics is free, easy to set up, and gives you a ton of information about your business…basically, you’d be crazy not to be using it! I know it has a *lot* of info and that can seem daunting..but don’t worry, we can walk you through it!

While you’re at it, you should have Google Search Console setup too…and I’ll tell you why right here

Provide Better Customer Service with Live Chats

Live chat can mean more sales and fewer abandoned carts for your e-commerce business. Customers want their questions answered instantly…imagine if you could talk to customers about what’s in their cart right now…before they jump ship! Service providers and SaaS companies have a lot of success with live chat, too.

So, are you doing these 5 things…or are you missing out on free money? 😉 Feel free to ping me if you have questions about any of these!
